Date :1999

The objective of the project was to exchange experience in trace Element Analysis and research aimed at investigation of trace elements in human and animal health and the environment.
Through the small grants provided by UNESCO, the Academy has been able to facilitate exchange of Scientists to other trace element centres and also visits to our center at the University of Nairobi.
So far since 1999 UNESCO has provided a total of USD. 11,000 (Kshs. 720,000) to the project and this has enabled our scientists visit the center in Ethiopia, India, Hungary, South Africa, and at UNESCO Trace Element Centre in Lyon, France.
Our scientists have also attended trace element conference in France and Turkey as well as organizing the First Trace Elements Conference in Africa in Nairobi. Our center has also received visits from Hungary.
UNESCO Basic Science and University Science Education
Date:1999-2000

The project’s aim was to:
  • Purchase and install the necessary equipment to be utilized for Scientific Research
  • Develop International Cooperation with study partners through study visits
  • Present the new didactical, material DIDAC to University and Secondary school teachers.
The project undertaken in 1999 – 2000 with USD.7830 funds from UNESCO acquired several scientific equipment and organized study visits to South Africa and Prague.
University Industry Cooperation
Date:July 2006

UNESCO provided USD. 6500 for study visits and for organization of a seminar at the department of Chemistry. In this project, the funding and research exchange was to revive World Bank funded chamomile project of the department of Chemistry (KIBWEZI). Visits were organized to University of Ljubljana and United States of America in cooperation with the American Chemical Society. Also Scientists from The University of Ljubljana visited Kenya to help in the planting of chamomiles at the Kibwezi dry land farm
